We offer all seven British Columbia core competency training courses on-demand, meaning you can train anytime, anywhere – perfect for your busy schedule. Online courses offer the flexibility you need to complete your qualifications on your time.

Each core competency course offered by BC Builder Training is developed by local experts and is mapped to and approved by BC Housing as an approved provider.

About licensing in British Columbia

Interested in getting your builder licence? Builders who are looking to apply for a new residential builder licence as a general contractor in British Columbia must meet certain criteria based on Part 9 of the BC Building Code. Included in these criteria is a proven competency in seven core areas. This course examines the role played by customer service within the New Home Construction Industry and the role it plays in enhancing the warranty coverage provided to homeowners. In doing so, the course further explores the important matter of creating a Customer Service Model and concludes with an examination of ten common warranty issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, you can challenge the final exam for any of the seven BC core competency training courses. An exam challenge costs $250. Browse our exam challenge options.

Yes

BC’s Homeowner Protection Act and Regulation outline the qualifications needed to obtain and maintain a residential builder licence.

To obtain your licence, you need both proof of experience and proof of training. Learn more about BC Housing’s Qualification Requirements.

Depending on whether you choose a course that is delivered online, in a classroom or delivered in the format of a group training, you may enroll in a course accordingly. For course dates and times, please visit the individual course page you are interested in taking.

  • From your student dashboard homepage:
  • Click on “Courses” or search in the search bar for the course you are interested in
  • Select the course you would like to enrol in
  • Click “Enrol Now” to add the course to your cart
  • Click on your cart and select “Proceed to Checkout”
  • if you are not logged in at this point, you will be required to log in
  • Complete the address information – if you address and billing information is the same – Click “Next”. If not, unclick Billing Address
  • Review your order and click “Next”
  • Review your Billing Address
  • “Proceed to Payment Information”
  • Enter your payment details
  • Submit payment
  • Receipt will be emailed to you

You will automatically be enrolled in the 1st attempt Exam Rewrite for this course after a 24-hour waiting period. Please look out for an enrollment email.

We accept VISA, MasterCard, AMEX and company cheques. We process credit card payments immediately upon registration. Payment by invoice can also be arranged by contacting us with your enquiry.
